This middle school is the third phase in a multi-phased project for Sahuarita Unified School District that spans several years. In close coordination with the District, Durrant devised a phasing concept that allowed construction to occur in vacated portions of the facilities with minimal relocation of students and school activities.
The project entailed the conversion of an existing high school to a grade 6-8 middle school using existing buildings and a new construction. The new construction includes the addition of an eight-classroom building with two science rooms and an administration building which houses a new library and technology areas. the project included ADA compliance upgrades, fire safety improvements, bus drop off and parking area improvements, and the development of exterior spaces.
